At the age of twelve, Siena L. discovered her passion for firefighting. Knowing that this was not a typical career for women, she set her sights on doing everything she could to learn about the firefighting field and immerse herself in the fire community.
Joining her local Fire Explorer program at 14, she was not surprised to find she was the only girl. Rather than feeling defeated, she was even more inspired to not only pursue her passion in firefighting, but to show other girls that this was a viable future for them!
“Doing a job that really makes an impact on other people is so awesome. Seeing what firefighters do has always interested me and seems like such a cool job where I’m not behind a desk. I get to experience the real world and have that high stress situation but in a good way,” Siena Laws, 2025 Live Más Scholar.
Taco Bell Foundation decided to surprise Siena with her $25,000 Live Más Scholarship while she was at school, surrounded by classmates. We even got to visit Siena’s fire training center in Anaheim, CA. You can learn more about Siena and see the surprise below:
