About Chef Janet

Janet Bourbon is a senior strategic chef for Cargill’s protein business, based in Wichita, Kansas. Her focus is the foodservice segment and her professional background includes fine dining, chain restaurants, corporate retail, as well as manufacturing.

Janet’s cooking career began in high school, when she opened a small catering business with her sister.  During university, she talked herself into a job at a local café, and cooked for the Geological Survey of Canada.

After earning her bachelor’s degree, Janet attended the culinary arts program at George Brown College in Toronto.  While she completed her two-year culinary apprenticeship, Janet worked in five star hotels and restaurants in Toronto.

Janet moved to Dallas, Texas in 1987.  She worked for Chef Stephen Pyles, as saucier at the Adolphus Hotel, and as R&D chef in Neiman Marcus Corporate Foodservice. Later professional adventures included the director of R & D at Steak and Ale restaurants, and corporate chef positions Tyson Foods, and Meyer Natural Angus.

Janet has been at Cargill since 2009.
