About Afifiya
Afifiya Kamara is a Human Resources Professional with over 17 years of professional experience in the HR field. She attended undergrad at the State University of New York at Geneseo majoring in Psychology. Afifiya went on to obtain her Master of Science from New York University and while in graduate school she studied HR management, specifically recruiting and retaining top talent. Before graduate school she was the HR Manager for OTG Management; a foodservice corporation located in JFK International Airport.
Her professional background is in leadership development, diversity & inclusion, recruiting, and strategic human resources management. She is currently employed at LinkedIn’s New York City Office, and before LinkedIn, she worked at the Apple Store on West 14th street as a supervisor for both the sales floor and the genius bar. Her passions are centered on helping people, specifically in helping them to take their professional experience to a higher, greater level.
About Sandra
Sandra Dorsey is the Head of Inclusion & Diversity of SMBC Group Americas Division. In her role she is responsible for educating employees on the value of having an inclusive culture and how this impacts business success.
Prior to Sandra’s current role she was a Director at E*TRADE in Talent Management and Diversity where she led their Diversity initiatives and Leadership Development programs. There she initiated 7 Employee resource groups over a 2 year period and facilitated a cross business and site Diversity Council. In addition to leadership development Sandra facilitated off-sites and team building evens for senior leaders.
Sandra received her BS in Organizational Management from Nyack College and she spent 8 years in the US Army in the Military Intelligence Field with assignments in Berlin and Augsburg Germany during the Cold War.
